Social Media Changes everything!

Since the Internet came about, the mobile generation and the many other choices of entertainment is available at a touch, click or swipe.

44% of all Americans own an iPhone, IPod, or MP3 players.  This is from ages twelve and up according to the study of 1,753 people by Edison.  54% out of the 1,753 use these devices with their car stereo.

Cars are the main delivery point for terrestrial radio and it is being invaded by popular youth alternatives like Pandora, wifi access, and other ways to access mobile rich content than just turning the radio on and listening.  Pioneer decided to build a Pandora free radio for car installation that will allow people to access their favorite customized radio service, for others there will be APS and Wi-Fi.

48% of Americans have at least one social networking tool, and 30% of these people check their profiles more than once every day. Social networking is a bugaboo for radio companies who tend to blindly embrace Future Ranking Twitter and Facebook and turn social networking into direct marketing companies. That would be a mistake as I see it. Social media networking is so named because there is a two-way communications component presumed in the description.

With so many people gravitating to social networking while traditional media grapples to make their new communications tool their new marketing tool, you can see trouble ahead.

For iPad accounts there is 5% of all Mobile net consumptions and that was only with in a week of when it came out in April. If it was 5% just in the first week imagine how many Americans have them now.

If radio does not start to catch up with new products beyond audio then radio could disappear forever.  Traditional radio is always great for listening to the morning talk shows, getting your gossip and the news. If radio does actually start to fade away the only way that you could get any of your news is from T.V or the newspaper and magazines until technology advances even more and then those item might disappear as well.
