A revolutionary social network has begun—Google+. It’s a new social network with the backing of the Internet search engine juggernaut, which not surprisingly, ushers in new ranking opportunities. There are several things to consider when looking into why businesses are thriving in Google+ and were here to clear it up.
There are several reasons why businesses are thriving in Google+- not all of which is derived from the supernova search engine. Google+ is similar to Facebook in that you invite friends and have likes and interests- though the main difference from Google+ and Facebook is what it does for businesses. Currently Google is the most popular and widely used search engine available. The majority of online users swear by Google, an aspect that SEO techs are all too aware of, and what Google creates, Google favors. When users now search for something, they may become aware of the presence of Google+ posts and the ominous +1 button next to each post (if logged in). What does this mean for businesses trying to crack into the SMM or blogging world? Well it’s a double-edged sword…
Google+ is attempting to basically be Linkedin, Facebook and twitter all together- basically bridging the gap between the social and business sides of social media. When you create an account you are told to choose atleast 10 people to follow, you then put those ten people in separate circles- Acquaintances, family, friends, work, ect. What Google+ can offer, however, over all other social networking sites is pretty powerful- almost guaranteed ranking with each post you write about a relevant topic.
Google+ has garnered up to 62 million users, and they claim to be adding nearly 625,000 users a day, meaning the playing field is closing in. No longer will your rankings be guaranteed but the favor will still be in your corner when it comes to Google. What do these facts and statements mean for you as a business owner? Why should you jump on the bandwagon of Google+? Well as the search engine unveiled its most recent change, Google+ your world, it has changes the rankings and results users will see. When any user is logged in, they will now see a search engine result page tailed to there past searches, possible YouTube inquiries and even topics covered in your Gmail account. Invasive though it is, as a user and business owner in the Internet we must look at this change and see how we can benefit from it.
Firstly, it never hurts to optimize ALL social media venues- the more information out there about your brand and company the more a person will feel they can trust your services and products. Social media brings your companies personality to the forefront- like bringing a technological aspect to a mom and pop store, bringing small business relationships to the Internet. Creating a circle of industry connections, possible clients and other contacts to help benefit the company.
Once you create a Google+ account (you must create a Gmail account as well- tricky aren’t they!) and begin finding people to follow and share your posts with, try and start playing around.
